Microsoft has started a webspace Office Live Workspace, which is currently free and in beta. it's online microsoft document storage space. it's like Google Docs but Workspace doesn't provide web based editing of the documents. that means you have to edit the files offline.


there is a plug-in provided by workspace, which intalls a toolbar in your office applications. with that you can

  • add files from your harddisk to online webspace
  • open and edit documents that previously stored online
  • save new documents directly online

Browser Support

  • Internet Explorer (fully)
  • Firefox (lacks a ActiveX that is usefull to opens a stored file with single click)

  • online storage of 500MB for the Beta

  • anywhere access
  • manage different workspace with a single account
  • you can share your workspace with others
  • you can create online event or task that can be sync with outlook
  • no need to installed office for only to view the document stored online. (you can save it in rich-text format. the changes will be save to the online version)
